Hi, my name is bob...

...and I love cars. I've loved cars since I was 5 years old. What started it? Good question. The car that started the addiction was a Jaguar XK-E 2+2 coupe. It was blue with tan leather. Our neighbor had it, and I remember going for a ride in in it. I thought it was the best car in the world. I've had a soft spot in my heart for E-types ever since, and will probably own a '67 roadster some day.

I've never owned an English car. Mostly, I'm a German car guy. Right now, I have an Audi S6, which I graduated to from a couple Volkswagens (a VR6 GTI and a 16v Scirocco) and an Audi 4000 Quattro.

Prior to the VW's, I had an Acura and a Saab - the Acura was a fun car, but I don't think I'd like another Japanese car. They are just not built for guys my size (I'm 6'3"). Besides, German cars just have a feel that I've never found in any other cars. I've been an Audi guy for a long time - my parents have had a number of them - and I love Quattro. They call it the "Unfair Advantage", I call it a serious safety feature.

I've been hanging out with the North East Region Quattro Club for a few years, and I've taught a few winter driving schools at Tim O'Neil's Car Control Center. I'm a firm believer that there is no substitute for knowing how to drive (not merely operate) a car, and NEQ and Tim believe the same thing. Audi's Quattro system (built into every S6) is a great system for making it easier for a driver to be safe and in control. I'm glad my mom drives a Quattro.

There's a lot of info on the net about these cars. One of the best places to start is http://www.urs4.com/. You can find links to a lot of other good sites there.
